Born in 1944, Rex Walter Ryan was a classroom and photography teacher in State Primary Schools, mostly in and around Ballarat.
He taught at primary schools including:
- Mount Pleasant
- Ballarat East
- Ballarat
- Windermere
- Miner’s Rest Primary
- Golden Point
- Redan
- Wendouree West
- Black Hill, and
- Tullamarine.
Ryan was convicted of child sex abuse offences in May 1983 after he was caught offending at Black Hill Primary School. He was convicted and again in 2025 for offending at a variety of schools.
