Born in 1959, Farmer was a school teacher at Victorian state primary schools including in Newborough (formerly Murray Road Primary) in the La Trobe Valley in Victoria.
He was caught abusing students in Victoria in the late 1980s, but was not charged criminally.
He was caught abusing school students again in Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory where he was working as a teacher in the mid 1990s, and lost his job as a result.
In 2025 Farmer was convicted of child abuse offences relating to six students from Newborough Primary School as young as eight years old, and jailed.
Farmer may have abused other children at the school or elsewhere who have not come forward yet.
