Geoffrey Rowan Gillies was born in 1950.
He was a teacher at the Glamorgan campus of Geelong Grammar School in Toorak from 1971 to 1975, during which time he also held roles as boarding house master and sports master.
In 2018, Gillies pleaded guilty to five charges of indecent assault involving four students of the school.
