Father Kevin Ryan (also known as Father Arthur Ryan) was a parish priest at St. Matthew’s Parish, Fawkner between April 1964 and March 1972.
He was a close friend of convicted paedophile Robert Charles Blunden (Blunden was jailed for four years, with a non-parole period of 12 months, after pleading guilty in the Melbourne County Court to 27 charges of indecent assault and buggery on males between 1964 and 1970).
Ryan also served as a priest at other Melbourne parishes including:
- Yarraville,
- Thornbury, and
- Glenhuntly.
Independent Commissioner, Jeff Gleeson QC, for the Melbourne Response, accepted a complaint by “James” (born in 1954) that Father Ryan (and Blunden) sexually abused him as an 11-year-old pupil at St Matthew’s parish school, Fawkner North, in about 1965.
