Rightside Legal has successfully represented clients who were abused by Brother John David Frith while students at Monivae College in Hamilton, Victoria.
Monivae College is operated and run by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
Frith taught at Monivae in the 1970s.
Rightside took the Missionaries to trial in 2024 in relation to Frith’s abuse of our client. The decision brought down by the Supreme Court at that time accepted that our client had been sexually assaulted by Frith and a group of boys, even though the judge cleared the order of any liability.
Following the trial, however, it came to light that the Missionaries had failed to disclose the sexual misconduct of a key witness. This led to Rightside, on behalf of our client, appealing the Court’s verdict.
It would most likely have resulted in a retrial except the Missionaries settled the matter prior to any retrial – resulting in a compensation that was satisfactory to our client but we cannot reveal due to a confidentiality clause in the settlement deed.

No Win. No Fee.
Capped Pricing.
At Rightside we don’t have a string of expensive offices, dozens of partners or expensive marketing campaigns to fund. We limit the number of cases we take on, prepare your claim properly and fight hard for 100% of what your claim is worth.
We understand that our clients are often anxious and uncertain about the whole legal process. We’ll do our best to eliminate the uncertainties. We work on a No Win No Fee basis – that means we fund the litigation, and you only pay when we succeed. We also cap our fees to give our clients greater certainty.
