Alan McIntosh taught and abused students at Box Hill Primary School for more than 20 years.

Now the State of Victoria is being held to account for his crimes against children.

In September 2024, a former student received $1.25 million plus costs,

Our client was abused on at least 18 occasions from 1973-75.

McIntosh was his class teacher, then assistant principal. He also led the school choir.

Abuse took place in the school yard, and the music room, sometimes after the boy was instructed to remain behind to help tidy up.

The State of Victoria initially denied liability, but Rightside Legal was able to identify a number of other survivors of abuse by McIntosh.

They are now proceeding with their claims against the State.

The work done in the initial case will benefit other claims.

Although it was 7 months ago that I received the compensation payment, it is only now that I’m feeling the real benefits. This is so unbelievably helpful and nothing I had expected in my life. Life feels very different for me right now. I can’t quite take it in, but I do know that I am grateful to you for the work done.
