Rightside Legal has successfully represented clients who were abused as children by Father Frank Klep.

Klep was one of a number of Salesians of Don Bosco who have abused vulnerable kids.

He has been convicted on three separate occasions, the first in 1994 and the most recent in 2019, for abusing multiple students who he was supposed to care for and educate.

Klep was born in Holland in 1943 and moved to Australia in the 1950s. He joined the Salesians in the 1960s.

He abused many boys at Rupertswood boarding school in Sunbury in the 1970’s. He was at the School teacher and also ran the infirmary.

Klep would drug some of his victims before he would abuse them. Complaints were made to the Salesians over an extended period of time but nothing was done to stop him and he was not removed from the Order.

The full extent of Klep’s offending may never be known but survivors will have a good case against the Order that allowed him offend over many years.
