In 2021, one of our clients received $2.45 million plus legal costs to compensate him for abuse by Adderley between 1977 and 1980 when our client was aged 10 to 12. It was believed at the time to be the Catholic Church’s highest ever payout to a victim of sexual abuse in Western Australia.
Sadly, Adderley was moved around parishes across WA by the Catholic Church, enabling him to abuse numerous vulnerable children in a range of institutions and settings.
His abuse of children first came to light in the 1960s when he was working as a priest in the WA town of Narrogin. Following the accusations, he was sent to parishes in Nannup and Manjimup. He also served in other parishes in the state.

Adderley died in 1983.
