Brother Thomas Grant Ross (also known as Brother Benignus) was born on 8 January 1921.
He was a religious brother in the Order of the Redemptorist Fathers from 1939 until his death in 1993.
Between 1945 and 1993, Br Ross held various appointments at Redemptorist Monasteries in Australia and New Zealand including several appointments at St Mary’s Monastery in Wendouree.
During his time at the St Mary’s Monastery, Br Ross organised a youth group, participated in retreats, worked as a cook, assisted in the preparation of free meals for families in the Ballarat area, and visited families in the community to provide pastoral care.
Br Ross sexually abused children in their homes, in the Monastery and during overnight trips away from the Monastery.
