Vili Kovac was a PE teacher employed by Xavier College and other Melbourne Catholic schools.
Kovac implemented inappropriate training methods which included handling boys’ genitals, naked running on the beach, inappropriate touching during physical education and gym classes and intrusive and abusive massages of boys.
He was convicted of child sexual offences in 1970 and sentenced to two terms of imprisonment.
He was subsequently convicted of further sexual offences against children in 2005, 2008 and 2018.
After Kovac was dismissed from Xavier College in or about 1967 because of inappropriate sexual behaviour and conduct, the Jesuits failed to report him to police and failed to prevent him from teaching at other Catholic Schools, including Marcellin College, where he later sexually abused other students.
