Father Desmond Lawrence Gannon was ordained as a priest in the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne in July 1956.
He was a prolific offender in the Archdiocese and his offending spanned across more than two decades.
Between 1956 and 1993, Gannon was appointed to the following parishes:
- Assistant priest at St Raphael’s in West Preston
- Assistant priest at St Anthony’s in Glenhuntly
- Assistant priest at St Anthony’s Alphington
- Assistant priest at Christ of the King in Braybrook
- Assistant priest at St Michael’s in Ashburton
- Assistant priest in St Kilda East
- Assistant priest at of St Patrick’s in Kilmore
- Parish priest at Macleod in Rosanna.
