Barry Francis Watson Watson was a leader of the Park Orchards Church of England Boys’ Society (CEBS) youth group in Park Orchards, Victoria during the 1970s and 1980s.
He sexually abused many young boys through his involvement with CEBS, at the club rooms, on camps and at “sleep overs” at his house.
In 1987, Watson pleaded guilty to charges of indecent assault against minors while he was Governor of Emmanual Park Orchards CEBS and Assistant District Chairman of Yarra Valley CEBS.
In 2011 he was found guilty of 18 more charges of indecently assaulting 11 young boys between 7 and 13 years old who attended CEBS between 1970 and 1981. He was sentenced to four years imprisonment.
Watson died by suicide while facing further sexual assault charges in 2019.
