Maxwell Perry Hickey was born in New Zealand and qualified as a teacher there before moving to Victoria.

He was a maths and science teacher as well as a house master at Carey Baptist Grammar School for many years, where he abused at least one male student in the early 1980s.

He later taught in Trinity Grammar School and then Gippsland Grammer School, where he also abused students as a science teacher and boarding house master. He offended against a number of boys who were resident in the boarding house at that school.

Gippsland Grammar has paid compensation to survivors, but the amount offered to survivors who did not have expert legal advice was a tiny fraction of the amount that Rightside Legal have been able to achieve for our clients.

Hickey died in 2010.

No Win. No Fee.

Capped Pricing.

At Rightside we don’t have a string of expensive offices, dozens of partners or expensive marketing campaigns to fund. We limit the number of cases we take on, prepare your claim properly and fight hard for 100% of what your claim is worth.

We understand that our clients are often anxious and uncertain about the whole legal process. We’ll do our best to eliminate the uncertainties. We work on a No Win No Fee basis – that means we fund the litigation, and you only pay when we succeed. We also cap our fees to give our clients greater certainty.
